MEG is produced from ethane gas at our PetroRabigh joint plant in Saudi Arabia. Made using the Shell OMEGA process, Sumitomo Chemical MEG is characterised by its lower impurity levels and superior chemical properties. MEG is the raw material for the production of polyester, which is widely used in various end applications like polyester fibres, PET bottles, and film. MEG is also used to make antifreeze for automobile engines. Global demand for MEG continues to rise today.

Phenol is a white crystalline solid essential for the production of polycarbonates and resins, intermediate products in the manufacture of many automobile headlamps, laminates, and more.

Acetone, other than being a solvent for cleaning agents, glue, paint thinner, and the likes, is also a key part of manufacturing methyl methacrylate (MMA) and polycarbonates.

MMA is not only the main raw material in manufacturing PMMA, but also used in the manufacture of transparent resins, cast sheets, paints, adhesives, varnishes, coatings, the leather industry, and additives.
